In January 2019, Astana will have 6 new points of reception of secondary raw materials. The press service of the mayor’s office of the capital informs about it. It is noted that today 16 similar points are already successfully functioning in the city. They are located on streets А369, Dostyk, left Turkestan, Koshkarbayev, Potanin, Kravtsov, Ryskulbekov, Mustafina, Prospekt Bogenbay Batyr and others.
Here Astana residents hand over polyethylene, plastic, cardboard, glass containers, waste paper, aluminum cans. In addition, they are paid up to 100 tenge for one kilogram of recyclable materials. The most expensive is the waste of aluminum cans and polyethylene. But for one glass bottle is 3 tenge. The reward encourages Astana residents to separate garbage collection, the city authorities believe. All secondary raw materials collected by employees of these points are supplied to waste processing plants.
Points of reception of secondary raw materials should help in the education of the population of environmental culture and the formation of respect for the environment.
By the way, the waste processing industry is developing rapidly in the capital and serves as an example for many other regions of the country. Thus, in 2018, in agreement with the Ministry of energy of Kazakhstan, “Operator ROP” LLP allocated 5.2 billion tenge for the implementation of a pilot project to modernize the waste management system of Astana. Implementation of the pilot project is carried out in 2 stages. One of them is the introduction of separate waste collection in two fractions: “wet” (food waste) and “dry” (paper, plastic, glass, metal). And the second-the introduction of technology for processing organic fraction of solid waste to obtain technical compost.
Also in the city there are 112 buried containers “Milk”, which are served by 2 garbage trucks equipped with crane manipulator. The advantage is that the container of 5 cubic meters replaces 5 standard containers.
All waste generated on the territory of Astana is exported to the waste processing complex, built in 2012 according to the Spanish technology. The capacity of the complex is 300 thousand tons per year. Here the waste is sorted, processed and briquetted. Plastic waste is used to make polymer granules, and paper is used to make ECOWAS pellets.
Every day 1000-1200 tons of waste are exported from the territory of Astana. In 2017, 247 thousand tons of garbage were taken to the landfill. For the period of 11 months of 2018 – 257 thousand tons of solid waste. The polygon consists of 2 cells, one of them was preserved in August this year.
